They do go on to have a clear definition. I say the notion of private life has been developed through caselaw by the French courts which have held that:

"A person's private life includes his or her love life, friendships, family circumstances, leisure activities, political opinions, trade union or religious affiliation and state of health."

So in other words, they have developed a fairly clear understanding of what privacy is through caselaw, which we don't appear to have done in this legislature.
