I mean, it is -- certainly my professional experience over the last 20 years is that the -- there are many occasions on which the media has abused its position, particularly in relation to privacy cases, which are -- I've had a lot of involvement in over the past two or three years, and without some more effective form of regulation, the remedies available through the courts are both expensive and not wholly effective.

Without some more effective form of regulation, the practical position is that privacy rights are simply not protected, as one has seen in notorious cases over the past two or three years.
